4 Events Supporting a More Female Future During Advertising Week NY

September 19, 2019
By Ryan Christopher

With the rise in attention around women’s social justice issues like equal pay, gaining leadership roles, and education, how are we addressing these in the digital advertising industry?

At this year’s Advertising Week NY, gender equality in the workforce is getting greater focus — with Rubicon Project leading the charge with our Women’s Leadership Breakfast.

We’ve picked 4 of the most relevant events, panels, and discussions happening during the week that will help ensure the future is female.

1. Women’s Leadership Breakfast

What can companies do to ensure gender equality in the workforce? Rubicon Project, USA TODAY NETWORK, and AdExchange will tackle this timely topic via a lively discussion around gender parity, featuring some of the industry’s brightest women leaders in digital advertising and media.

Join panelists Alysia Borsa (Meredith Corporation), Maureen Bosetti (Initiative), Amy Lanzi (Publicis Media) and Erica Barrett (Spark Foundry) as they discuss how to mobilize the collective power of women, moderated by Sara Sluis (AdExchanger).

Discover the value of having moms in leadership roles, the physical, mental, and emotional challenges for moms in the workplace, and how the future of work can be more inclusive for mothers.

Participants will learn insights from a neuroscience study revealing societal bias against hiring mothers in the workforce, and how advertisers can help combat these biases and negative stereotypes in order to make a real impact.

Panelists include Caroline Gogolak (SoulCycle), Spencer Gerrol (Spark Neuro), Reem Abeidoh (LinkedIn), Katie Klumper (Heat + Deloitte Digital), and Monique Nelson (UWG).

3. Path Pavers: A Candid Conversation with the Women Shaping Heavyweight Brands

It’s no secret there’s a shockingly low number of women who make it to the C-suite in corporate America. How can aspiring women change that narrative?  What does it take to rise to the top at a major national brand?

This session will unpack the stories and trajectories of some of the impressive leaders that challenge this reality and have earned themselves roles in the c-suite.

Attendees will walk away inspired by the unique roadblocks and universal commonalities of heavyweights in the world of banking, motorbikes, and food.

Featuring Heather Malenshek (Harley-Davidson Motor Company), Jill Baskin (The Hershey Company), Leanne Fremar (JPMorgan Chase), Sarah Thompson (Droga5), and Lindsay Stein (Campaign).

Join three women leaders who will share their paths and stories as they pave the way for the future marketers.

All are now members of General Assembly’s Marketing Standards Board, a group building a curriculum to certify marketer skill levels and readiness to rise within the industry, intended to help mentor the next generation of leaders.

Panelists include Meg Sloan (Verve Coffee Roasters), Marla Kaplowitz (4A’s), Seth Rogin (Nucleus Marketing Solutions), and Gail Horwood (Kellogg Company).
