Information We Collect
In order to enable us to help you review Ads delivered through Rubicon Project’s platform, and to help us improve and troubleshoot issues with our platform, we need to collect certain information about you as you surf the Internet with the Extension installed and enabled, while also logged into your Rubicon Project account.
When you install the Extension for a specific browser and sign in to a Rubicon Project account, we collect certain information about all of your activity while you use that browser with the Extension enabled and while you are signed in. In particular, we collect the following information about your activity: the site(s) you may visit, information about your device, your IP address, information about the operation of Rubicon Project’s advertising technology on the sites you visit (including information about the Ads you receive, and whether those Ads are delivered through the Rubicon Project platform). Additionally, if you use the Extension to report an issue for purposes of troubleshooting, we will collect information about your Rubicon Project account. As discussed below, we need this information in order to improve and potentially troubleshoot issues with our advertising technology, including how that technology is implemented on the sites you are visiting. We also need to be able to tie this information to the Rubicon Project account that you sign in with, so that we are able to effectively troubleshoot issues that you raise. We will not collect any information while you have the Extension disabled, or if you are signed out.
Please note that if you are located in or using the Extension in the European Economic Area (the “EEA”), we do collect personal data about you, as that term is used in the EEA. None of this information, however, includes any “sensitive” personal data about you.
We collect information using “cookies,” which are data files that often include an anonymous unique identifier, and are placed on a visitor’s device or computer. For more information about cookies, and how to disable cookies, visit http://www.allaboutcookies.org.
How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to allow you to identify ads delivered through the Rubicon Project platform, as well as to provide you analytics related to and to troubleshoot issues with your implementation of Rubicon Project’s advertising technology. For example, we might use information that we collect about the ads delivered through your site to determine how Rubicon Project’s “FastLane” technology is functioning on the websites that you are visiting. We may also use this information to:
- Operate, improve, and address issues with our technology and the Service;
- Communicate with you regarding your Rubicon Project account; and
- Protect, investigate, and deter against fraudulent, unauthorized, or illegal activity.
Sharing of Information
We may share information that we collect with our customers in order to troubleshoot issues we identify through your use of Vantage. Any information that we share with our customers, however, will be anonymized so as not to identify you, or your device. Additionally, we may share information for legal, protection, security, and safety purposes, including to comply with laws or regulatory requirements and to respond to lawful requests and legal process.
Our Retention Policies and Your Choices
We retain system records that contain information that we collect for no longer than one year, after which point such data will be anonymized and aggregated. Finally, because the effect of “Do Not Track” signals remains unclear, and there continues to be no consistent industry understanding of how to respond to such a signal, we do not alter our privacy practices when we detect a “Do Not Track” signal from your browser.
We use many different measures to help protect information transmitted over or stored on our systems. No transmission of information, however, is guaranteed to be completely secure. In particular, we cannot guarantee that your data will not be disclosed, altered, or accessed accidentally, or through unlawful or unauthorized acts of others.
